Mongolian Cashmere

Cashmere from the Mongolian plateau, where the winter is hard enough to make the fibre worth having. Long staple, combed once by hand at the source. Spun heavy, not thin, so the cloth falls with weight and holds its shape on the arm of a chair for years rather than seasons.

The Making

Nothing is made before it is asked for

The cloth is set on the loom after the order is placed. The edge is then worked by hand, stitch by stitch, along its full length. Six to eight weeks pass between the request and the piece.

The first work of this house made for the room rather than the man. The landscapes are the ones the house was refined in: the dune, the empty quarter, the stone beneath the city. Worn by no one. Seen by no one but him.
